I recently visited Strathcona Park Lodge to photograph Georgia and Pierre’s wedding. I love traveling out that way for a wedding- the drive is absolutely beautiful and the lodge is a perfect venue for a classy wilderness wedding. Congratulations Georgia and Pierre! Mother’s Day | Tofino Family Photography

Happy Mother’s Day weekend everyone!! I hope everyone is finding some time to connect with mum and tell her how awesome she is! Earlier this week, Linda was surprised with a fun family photo shoot as her Mother’s Day present and we had a fantastic morning tromping all over the beach at Pacific Sands. If you didn’t see the camera in my hand, you would probably have thought I was leading some kind of fitness workout because I had them running, climbing trees and hopping over rocks. It made for some great laughs and at the end of it all, Linda said to me that she didn’t even need to see the photos because she had such a great time getting them done and that’s the most important part. I couldn’t agree more- Enjoy the photos!

Jana & Toby | Tofino Botanical Gardens | Rare Earth | Tofino Wedding

Congratulations Toby and Jana! Your wedding was incredible and I am thrilled to have been able to capture all the moments and details of the day. The day began photographing Jana and Toby at their two different guest houses on Chesterman’s Beach and then a ‘first look’ on the beach. They exchanged vows at the Tofino Botanical Gardens and then celebrated their love, friends, and families at a fully decked out community hall. I have never seen the hall look that good! And the most amazing thing is that Jana prepared most everything herself.

They had the fabulous Sheila Orchiston of Rare Earth on board for the day of the wedding, seeing to it that everything ran smoothly and all things were taken care of. Sheila offers many different services for weddings and events in Tofino. The ‘Treasured Moments’ is one of the more popular packages as it offers full ‘day of’ wedding coordination and consultations the month prior to the wedding. Great for out-of-town brides that have most the details sorted but want some local help making the day even more perfect and memorable. Enjoy the sneak peek everyone! Tofino Tours | Jamie’s Whaling Station | Grand Prize Winner!

Congratulations Laura for winning the Jamie’s Whaling Station & Adventure Centres Ultimate Tofino Getaway! Just by liking Jamie’s Whaling Station Facebook page, she won a 2 night stay at Pacific Sands Resort, dinner at Shelter Restaurant, a kayak trip and a Sea to Sky Hot Springs Cove tour! Together, with her husband Richard, they saw whales, sea lions, eagles, had a soak in nature’s hot tub and experienced an eagle’s eye view of Clayoquot Sound with Tofino Air.

They also had a choice of either having a West Coast Portrait session here on the beaches in Tofino or having their trip to the springs documented with a photo session in the forest and at the springs. They choose to have me come along with them and I had a fabulous time capturing these images. Laura and Richard are from Ontario and are currently living in Victoria where Richard works in the Navy. They had never been the coast before and the day before had been their one year wedding anniversary, so this was a really special trip for them. The rain was beautiful and made the forest really lush and green. My favourite part was the flight with Tofino Air. Seeing Clayoquot Sound from the air makes me want to get out there more and explore all it’s special spots. So beautiful!

Keeley & Brendan | Long Beach Lodge Resort | Tofino Wedding Photography

Keeley and Brendan from Quesnel recently visited Tofino to exchange vows at Long Beach Lodge Resort. It was a perfect ceremony overlooking crashing waves and the wide open ocean. West Coast Portrait | Tofino Photography | Cox Bay Studio

This was a super fun shoot with Jillian and 8 of her favourite girls. The best part was that Jillian (the bride-to-be) didn’t even know she was going to be the centre of a photo shoot when she was taken out for drinks at the Great Room at Long Beach Lodge. She was both surprised and nervous when I arrived and her best friend Jacqui told her what was going on. The photo shoot ended up being a lot of fun and we explored quite a few vistas and got some great shots. The last few hours of the day are absolutely my favourite time to shoot as the sun gets lower, the light gets sexier and the colours and reflections start to shine. We even had a serenade of “Three Little Birds” from Bob Marley’s reincarnation. Thanks girls for being so awesome to work with! Enjoy the images! Lots more in the mail. Black Rock Resort Wedding | Miranda & Shawn | Ucluelet Photography

Congratulations Miranda and Shawn of Victoria! A wedding at Black Rock Ocean Resort in Ucluelet is one of my favourite things to photograph and after meeting Miranda in Victoria last year, I knew her wedding was going to be an amazing opportunity to capture some creative images. The weather was absolutely perfect with a thin cloud cover to diffuse the light and add texture to the sky. They chose to have their ceremony in the wine cellar, which is a particularly romantic spot nestled into the rock. The wedding coordinator at Black Rock, Katherine made the place extra cozy with candles and Crab Apple Florist set the colour with a delicate array of flowers. Enjoy the sneak peek! Kjertstin & Jim | Tofino Wedding | Cox Bay Beach Resort

Sheila Orchiston of Rare Earth organized the day and Renee made it an official occasion. Kjerstin and all four of her girls had their hair done by Salty Dolls which still looked beautiful even after some really intense wind! Flowers were provided my Crab Apple Florist and Tim May of Red Can Gourmet Catering satisfied the taste buds with an amazing west coast dinner. Nice work everyone!

Pacific Rim Whale Festival | Tofino | Ucluelet | Parade of Whales and Wonders

The annual Pacific Rim Whale Festival in Tofino and Ucluelet kicked off this weekend for nine days of great coastal activities. The festival is in it’s 26th year and it’s bigger and better than it has ever been. Find out all about it on the official site HERE! Here are a few photos of the Parade of Whales and Wonders.

Many of the photos are of the roller derby girl gang that was representing about twenty skaters from the Tofino/ Ucluelet roller derby team. This team is growing everyday with girls signing up and starting their training. I’ve been going the past few weeks and loving it! Fearless Photographer Award | Tofino Wedding Photography

I am soooo happy to win my first award with a kick-ass photography organization called Fearless Photographers! I first heard about them last year as they were just starting to establish themselves and I fell in love with the concept. The photography and photographers that are represented through this organization make me excited to be a wedding photographer. Seriously no-holds-barred, out-of-the-box, just plain awe inspiring photography. I was accepted to join their international directory of photographers early this year and entered the Round 8 contest to win my first Fearless Award.
