PORTRAIT INFORMATION
Family photo sessions are fun, creative and relaxed. The beach is my photography studio and there is really no better place to capture amazing family photos. Be it a romantic sunset or a tidal pool excursion, I guarantee a good time and beautiful photos to prove it.
I have a knack for making people feel comfortable in front of the lens and for capturing truthful emotions and personality. I have a lot of experience with children, as a teacher, a nanny and as an auntie. I'm pretty much a big kid at heart and am able to connect with kids in a way that guarantees smiles and laughter.
Going surfing? I can capture you catching your very first wave as an add on to your portrait session.

How do I book with you?
To book a portrait session, send an email to marnierecker@gmail.com with your dates of arrival and departure in Tofino or Ucluelet. Please let me know where you will be staying and how many people will be attending the session. Let me know if you have any specific requests to make it extra special.
If there are really young children in your family, let's book around napping schedules. It's also helpful to know children's ages and if anyone has mobility restriction.

What is your approach to portrait photography?
Portrait photography sessions are relaxed and fun. I like to capture the authentic connections between people and sometimes it can take a bit of time to warm up to the camera.
I offer direction to capture posed and candid images. I love working with the natural environment and try to capture a bit of everything in a session- water, sand, rocks, driftwood, and trees.
Sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes but depending on the age group, I am flexible for snack breaks and baby snoozes.
Tofino is one of those places where families come together and I do a lot of reunion sessions. I work to capture posed and interactive images. There's usually lots of time to break off into smaller groupings and individual images.
Where are good places to take photos in Tofino or Ucluelet?
There is definitely no shortage of beautiful place for photos in Tofino and Ucluelet. I am familiar with all the resorts, beaches, forests and the changing light through the seasons. There are spots where the light is better at different times of the day and places that are less busy in the summer months.
I'm happy to help make a plan to get the best out of your photography time with me.
What if it rains?
I usually schedule the session early in your stay so there is some wiggle room to rebook if it's stormy. There's usually a break in the weather at some point.
If it comes down to it, we'll shoot in the rain! There are some beaches and forests that are more sheltered from the southwesterlies.. Umbrellas and gumboots are great props for a rainy day adventure.
When will photos be delivered?
The full collection of photos will be delivered within 4-6 weeks. Depending on the season, I am going to try to get photos to you a lot sooner.
How are photos delivered?
You will receive a password protected online gallery with all the edited high resolution photos in colour and black and white. You will be able to download them, print and share as you wish.
