What a beautiful wedding at the Wickannish Inn, love that shot of the couple walking on the beach at sunset. So good!

Family Reunions in Tofino

Be it a 50th wedding anniversary, an 80th birthday party or an annual family vacation, Tofino is the perfect spot for a family reunion. It’s also the perfect spot for a portrait session with all your loved ones on the beach. That’s where I come in.:)My family reunion sessions are dynamic and creative. I capture both naturally posed and candid images. Sometimes it feels more like I’m leading an fitness workout as I get everyone to walk and run on the beach. I encourage kids to be goofy and also find the moments in between when they are calm and sweet. It’s a lot of fun to do these sessions with different families around the world. Everyone is different. Everyone is unique. And the one thing that brings them all together and allows me to bring out their best selves, is their love for Tofino. It’s a common story with all the grandparents in these photos that they first visited Tofino in the 70s and camped on Long Beach. I love hearing their memories of the stars at night and the phosphorescence in the water. And about how they have been bringing their families to appreciate Tofino’s wild beauty ever since. I love being able to create these images so they will always remember that connection to a place and to each other. Here are some photos from the last 6 family reunions I’ve had the pleasure of photographing.

Surfing Family Portraits

One of the best things a family can do when visiting Tofino, is to get in the water. And the best way to get in the water, is to go surfing. Lucky for Tofino visitors, many of the resorts have made surfing really accessible. Pacific Sands has partnered with Surf Sister Surf School and are now offering lessons from the resort’s Surf Shack.
One very adventurous family decided they’d like to add coverage of their surf lesson to their portrait session in order to capture the kid’s first waves. It was definitely something they’ll never want to forget and I hope it was just the beginning of their stoke on surfing.

Tofino Maternity Photo Session

I don’t do maternity sessions very often and usually only with past clients, but I had a feeling that Lindsay and James would be really fun to work with. And I was right. We had a lot of fun creating these images. The morning light was sweet and Long Beach Lodge was the perfect starting point for a session on the beach and in the forest. It is beautiful to witness two people, as in love as Lindsay and James celebrate, with glowing anticipation, the coming arrival of their new baby. May these photos forever remind them of the preciousness of a moment and how much love they have to share with their new baby.

The island of Bali is pure magic. It is, by far, one of my favourite places I’ve visited. Everywhere you go, people are open to sharing their culture and traditions. And they shine with peace and love. I was blessed with opportunities to photograph Autumn Skye Morrison’s third annual painting retreat and the Bali Spirit Festival. You can see more photos of the festival HERE. See my photos of the painting retreat HERE. Here are a few of my favourite images.
