Wedding Information

I have been photographing weddings for over 10 years, in British Columbia and internationally. Photography is my passion and I am inspired by art, stories and beautiful light. My photography style is a blend of unobstusive photojournalism to capture authentic moments and artistic environmental portraiture.

Where are you located?

I live in Tofino, B.C. on the west coast of Vancouver Island. I offer my wedding and portrait services all over Vancouver Island and internationally. I travel a lot and am open to new locations and destinations for weddings.

What are your prices?

Wedding photography packages start at $2200. Contact me for more package deals and I can work out a personal quote based on your needs, timeline and budget.

What equipment do you use?

I have been using Nikon cameras for the past 12 years ever since got my very first SLR- the Nikon F60. I work with two Nikon camera bodies and an assortment of professional lens from wide angle to telephoto lens. I also use on-camera and off-camera flashes.

What happens if it rains?

As you may very well know, it rains ALOT in Tofino. It is also not so rare to have it rain, hail and sun all in the span of five minutes. The “wild west coast” wouldn’t be so wild any other way and it’s part of why I love it here so much. I’m sure you’ve heard that an overcast day is the best shooting conditions for a photographer, but really any kind of day can make for awesome atmospheric photographs. There’s always lots of umbrellas around if the rain is really coming down and some couples have been known to brave out the storm without umbrellas, resulting in really unique and dynamic images. The forest canopy also gives a good rain cover. And of course there are always inside options next to a warm fire or the distinctly west coast interior accents of your chosen resort setting.

When will I receive my wedding photos?

I do all the processing of the images, so in the summer it may take up to the promised 6 weeks to deliver your phoots. But quite often, I have them to you within 2-4 weeks.

How do I book you for a wedding?

Email me with the date of your wedding and I will check my availability. Let me know how long you want me to photograph your day, how many people will be attending and what the most important thing for you to get out of your wedding photographs. I will provide pricing packages and from there I can give you a personal quote that considers your unique needs and expectations. To save the date, there is a 30% deposit.

How far should we book in advance?

Typically 6-12 months in advance once you know the date and venue. Email me to see about availability.

How did you become a photographer?

People often ask me how did I become a photographer. And it really comes down to three things- passion, work and choices.

My love affair with light began in art school in 1997 when I got my first SLR. I have a BA in Studio Art and Cultural Anthropology/ Archaeology from the University of British Columbia. During my time at UBC, I worked as a darkroom technician and assisted photographers. I also studied graphic design at the Nova Scotia College of Design and finished a psychology minor at VIU.

After graduating, I set off for 4 years to work and travel throughout Asia, Australia, Nepal and India. This travel helped train my eye and I started to work as a portrait and wedding photographer in Australia.
